Finding a venue that can accommodate a hundred people at a reasonable price has become quite a challenge! After considering dozens of options, we settled on Merced for our West Coast Citroën Rendez-Vous.
Our home base for the weekend was the historic 114-room El Capitan Hotel. While it's true that Merced is not at the top of most people's bucket list, let me assure you that our hotel was fabulous! With its freshly renovated modern décor, the El Capitan would be well at home with the hipsters in San Francisco or Los Angeles.

THE PROGRAMME
On Friday attendees were encouraged to check out the renowned restaurant Rainbird (https://www.rainbirdmerced.com/) located right inside the El Capitan hotel, or to explore some of the adjacent local dining options in downtown Merced.
On Saturday morning we headed out on a scenic drive before stopping to enjoy soft drinks and boxed sandwich lunches selected at registration.
Saturday afternoon we made our way back to the hotel in plenty of time for a no-host cocktail hour from 6pm at the neighbouring Mainzer Theater, dinner followed from 7pm.
After dinner we enjoyed a presentation by world-renowned climbing expert Ken Yager, founder of the Yosemite Climbing Association and co-founder of the Yosemite Climbing Museum in Mariposa. We were excited to have Ken join us as a member of the local community, a compelling storyteller, and a complete gearhead!
While there were no planned events on Sunday, we encouraged attendees to visit local sights and driving routes, including incredible birdwatching, a fabulous Basque restaurant, and the Castle AFB Museum among other attractions.
