Join us October 18-20 for the 2024 West Coast Citroën Rendez-Vous in Merced, California!
THE VENUE
Finding a venue that can accommodate a hundred people at a reasonable price has become quite a challenge! After considering dozens of options, we've settled on Merced for our West Coast Citroën Rendez-Vous.
A youthful and diverse community, Merced is located in the heart of California’s agricultural Central Valley and was historically known as the «Gateway to Yosemite». The revitalized downtown is emerging as the arts and entertainment centre of the area.
Our home base for the weekend will be the historic 114-room El Capitan Hotel. Designed by architect Edward T. Foulkes, whose résumé includes the grand Oakland Tribune office tower in downtown Oakland, the El Capitan was a favourite in the 1920s of (Canadian) Mary Pickford, America’s sweetheart of the silent film era, and her husband, Douglas Fairbanks. The hotel was renovated and completely modernized in 2021.
Our group rate ranges from $139 to $165/night depending on the room selected. If you need an ADA-compliant room, please contact the hotel directly AFTER booking to ensure that they take that into account.
Breakfast is not included in the room rate, but is available in either of the hotel's two restaurants (Rainbird or the more casual Native Son), at nearby restaurants, or at the Saturday morning Farmer's Market a block away from the hotel.

THE PROGRAMME
On Friday night you're encouraged to check out the renowned restaurant Rainbird (https://www.rainbirdmerced.com/) located right inside the El Capitan hotel, or explore some of the adjacent local dining options in downtown Merced.
On Saturday morning we'll head out on a scenic drive before stopping to enjoy soft drinks and whichever of these boxed sandwich lunches you've selected at registration:

Saturday afternoon we'll make our way back in plenty of time for a no-host cocktail hour from 6pm at the Mainzer Theater, next door to the hotel. From 7pm, enjoy whichever of these plated dinners you selected at registration:

Your three-course dinner INCLUDES a salad, soft drinks, wine, dessert, and coffee.
There are gluten-free and special diet options for both the boxed lunch and the plated dinner. Just use the checkbox on the registration form and we will get in touch with you to sort out the details.
During dinner on Saturday night we will enjoy some very special entertainment and an awards programme.
While there are no planned events on Sunday, we'll be sending you more information about local sights and driving routes that you can explore individually, including incredible birdwatching, a fabulous Basque restaurant, and the Castle AFB Museum among other attractions.
